Vistas of San Francisco from the Berkeley Hills

Sunset over San Francisco

Last posting you had us connecting in Oakland – Rebecca via flight from San Diego and Scott via motorbike from LA. As you can imagine Scott was pretty tired from his 6-7 straight hours of highway driving, stopping only for gas. We had anticipated this and decided to stay in Berkeley for the night.

Excited about our pending ride, we were high on anticipation. We toured the Berkeley Hills getting stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and surrounding San Francisco. That night we ate at a great Indian dive restaurant recommended by our friends who had lived in Berkeley for years.

For our accommodations, we used Airbnb. This was our first time trying Airbnb. We booked all our stays for this trip in Airbnb accommodations. We decided to try Airbnb for this trip to see if it was a viable option for accommodations in Europe. If you haven’t discovered Airbnb – it’s this really cool website where any homeowner can advertise a room or their home for rent. Our first experience wasn’t our best. We picked a room for rent by a single man. The place was a little messy and it looked like the cleaning lady hadn’t cleaned the bathroom in a week. Not great but what were we to do? We got in late and left early and never met the home owner in person. It was good enough for a quick overnight.
