The Painted Turtle at Dutch Lake
Dutch Lake in BC is one of those places that harkens back to a simpler time when kids played by the water, caught frogs, went swimming, and just explored during the summertime. Maybe they spent the day fishing for trout in the lake then cooked them over a big bonfire.
It’s not a really big lake, but there’s lots to do, or just relax and do nothing at all. Conveniently located between Jasper and Vancouver (that’s how we found it) and just north of Kamloops, it’s a great place to getaway or stop over for a few days on your long journey. They have cabins, RV sites, tent camping, and canoes and stuff to rent. Nearby there’s horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and wildlife viewing.
What would a lake resort be without a good restaurant? Well, Dutch Lake is blessed with a good one. The Painted Turtle at Dutch Lake serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and each comes complete with indoor or outdoor seating with view of the lake. A great peaceful setting to help reset your mind and body. We had a great lunch there and recommend it highly if you’re in the area or staying at Dutch Lake.
